Great spot for brunch. Coffee was great and really enjoyed the Japanese spin on brunch options plus the food was delicious. We saw the work they were doing on the outdoor area which looks like it will be great for an outdoor coffee or meal in spring/summer.

I'm delighted to share that Kusamono Cafe has opened right next to my studio, providing the best coffee and food in town. Now, neither I nor my students ever have to worry about getting hungry during classes. I'm not playing favorites, just stating the honest truth—you have to try their coffee to believe it!

Absolute gem of New Brighton, attended the beginners bonsai class and learned a whole lot. The coffee I ended up having was the best one I have had in New Brighton. The trees on display and friendliness of the people are 10/10. Give it a go, make it your local.

The delightful world of Kusamono Cafe. Imagine a place where coffee isn't just a drink, but a cozy companion for your adventures around the market or the perfect prelude to your perfect day. Now, let's talk coffee. It’s good—not the best I've had, but definitely not the worst. It's the kind of coffee that makes you think, "This is quite nice," but also leaves room for you to keep searching for that elusive, perfect cup. It's like the reliable sidekick in your morning routine. It would make a perfect early afternoon coffee, a delightful mellow brew. The staff? Exceptionally hospitable. They're the kind of people who make you feel like you've just walked into an old friend's home, even if you've never met them before. It's like a warm hug in cafe form. As for the food, well, if it's as good as the coffee, I'll definitely be back. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer, just to see if the food can match the cozy vibes and friendly faces. So, if you find yourself in need of a welcoming spot with good coffee and the promise of potentially great food, Kusamono Cafe is the place to be. It's like a little haven of comfort amidst the hustle and bustle, where the journey is just as enjoyable as the destination.

A very cute cafe tucked away in a quiet corner of New Brighton. Warm atmosphere. Cosy decor and cool bonsai plants/kits. Lovely staff. Food was delicious. Loved the brioche eggs bene. Only downside was that the iced matcha I got was very weak and too milky which was a bit disappointing. Other than that everything was great and I'd still come back but maybe try a different drink.

Kusamono Cafe in New Brighton is a well kept secret, down the end of an unlikely & one of the original side malls, it offers exceptional coffee & delicious Japanese inspired eats, a perfect fusion with your classic brunch fare. Another reason to visit Brighton & an extra treat if you’re into everything Bonsai.
